Skip hire in Wellington
Wellington is the second-largest town in the Dubbo Regional Council area, known for Wellington Caves and nearby Lake Burrendong. It has many older homes, so renovation and clean-out jobs are common, along with farm and shed clean-ups on the surrounding properties.
Because Wellington is about 45 minutes from Dubbo, ask whether the operator is local or travelling, and whether a longer hire is included.
Local tip
Dubbo Regional Council's Wellington Waste Transfer Station is on Nanima Village Road. Council's page lists it as open Monday, Thursday and Friday 8am to 5pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am to 12pm, and weekends 10am to 4pm. It takes small loads of bonded asbestos sheeting (up to a box-trailer load) by appointment only, correctly wrapped in plastic. Call 02 6840 1778 first.
Sizes for Wellington jobs
A 4 m³ skip suits a bathroom or laundry, 6 m³ a kitchen, and 8 m³ or more a house clear-out. Shed and farm clean-ups with old iron and timber often need 9 m³ or more. See the size guide.
Council rules
Wellington is covered by Dubbo Regional Council. A skip on the road, footpath or nature strip needs section 68 approval, and council's 2025–26 fees list $185 to apply plus $1,029 per month land rental. On your own land, approval generally isn't needed. See the permit guide.
